6.1 Pre-Session Activities that help Deepening of Trance:
Deep level of hypnosis is required to stop the client making questions from the conscious mind. The problems have been created by the conscious mind and we need to take the conscious mind down and sub conscious mind ahead to take the charge. Depth is individual’s condition. You need to observe it carefully. It involves following activities.
Rapport Building:
Let the client develop confidence in you regarding integrity and confidentiality. Ask specific and general both kinds of questions and reflect your communication so that the client start thinking that you are actively receiving the information given by him. Only a genuine interest can lead to develop rapport. You know very well it is only for the professional reasons. The client goes faster and deeper if adequate rapport has been established. Start conversation with general questions and move to the specific questions when the client becomes comfortable. The client would share concerns uninhibitedly only if good rapport has been developed. Never use the word ‘why’ while asking details from the client.
Dispel Fear:
This is part of education about the utility of hypnosis and removing fears and wrong notions developed about hypnosis. Remove fear pf loss of control. Never use language indicating control such as ‘I control your mind’. When the client considers it relevant then only he will go into deep trance because fear creates inhibition. Give factual information as per need expressed by the client.
