3.2 Procedure for Self Hypnosis

Pick up suggestion mentally or write on a paper before starting the process. Keep the sentence simple and short in positive language.

Take your shoes and socks off
  • Wear loose clothes
  • Remove wrist watch
  • Switch off cell-phone/ land phone / pager
  • Take a glass of water
  • Keep your hands un-occupied
Sit comfortably with both feet flat on the floor
  • Put your hands on your thighs
  • Become comfortable and relaxed

(If you are in bed, do not lie in the position you sleep, keep your head at least one foot higher than your feet)

Take three deep breaths
  • breathe in through the nose- inhale positive energy
  • breathe out through mouth- exhale negative energy
  • On each exhale close your eyes and on each inhale open your eyes
Close your eyes comfortably and breathe normally
  • feel the breath going in and out
After a while, whenever you feel comfortable
  • Repeat the physical key word seven time, repeat once each time when you exhale

(Get in touch with the feeling of the physical key word, get in touch with yourself)

Wait for 60 seconds
  • Focus on your breath- feel breath going in and out. After sometime whenever you feel comfortable
  • Repeat the emotional key word seven time, repeat once each time when you exhale

(Get in touch with the feeling of the emotional key word, get in touch with yourself)

Wait for 60 seconds
  • Focus on your breath- feel breath going in and out. After sometime whenever you feel comfortable
  • Repeat ‘Deep Sleep’ 7 times, repeat each time when you exhale (Feel it mentally)
Wait for 60 seconds
  • Focus on your breath- feel breath going in and out. After sometime whenever you feel comfortable
  • Repeat ‘your suggestion’ 21 times, repeat each time when you exhale
Wait for 3 minutes

Focus on your breath- feel breath going in and out. After sometime whenever you feel comfortable imagine the effect of the suggestion happening in your life with lots of happiness.

Wait for 60 second
  • Focus on your breath- feel breath going in and out. After sometime whenever you feel comfortable
  • Tell yourself that you are going to bring yourself out of hypnosis on the count of 1- 2-3-4-5
  • Count 1-2-3-4-5

Say to yourself ‘eyes open wide awake’

  • Open your eyes, change your position- have a few steps – ensure that you are out of hypnosis

REPEAT all steps for each NEW suggestion you want to give to yourself.
